TOKYO (Nikkei)--Mitsubishi Corp. (8058) Chairman Yorihiko Kojima said on Thursday that deeper economic partnerships will make it easier for Asia as a whole to collectively manage risk.

During a panel discussion on Asian perspectives on the global economy at the annual Future of Asia conference, Kojima said that the region needs to address a number of issues to continue to grow economically. He said that Asia needs to aim for sustainable, integrated growth and aggressively share information.

He said Japan can contribute to the regional economy in research and development on environmental issues.

"Japan has a long history of infrastructure development," he said, adding that he hopes the country will receive more orders for infrastructure projects in other Asian countries.
