Thursday, May 26, 2011

TOKYO (Nikkei)--Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai on Thursday said countries dependent on nuclear power will need to consider ways to use the technology safely.

Speaking at the annual Future of Asia conference in Tokyo, Hoang said the accident at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant had given countries around the world opportunities to review energy policies.

He also said that Vietnam's energy imports will likely exceed exports by 2015, and countries need to get together to think of the best possible ways to ensure safe use of nuclear power.
