Effective Distribution Networks Needed In Asia: Keio Prof

TOKYO (Nikkei)--Establishing effective regional distribution channels is key to the continued growth of East Asia, Keio University Professor Fukunari Kimura said at the annual Future of Asia forum here Friday.

"It is essential to find ways to boost regional strength from a mid- and long-range standpoint, as well as to tackle the current financial crisis," Kimura explained.

The professor noted that Asian firms have already successfully adopted just-in-time strategies, in which they manufacturer product in tune with demand, allowing them to avoid high inventory levels.
