TOKYO (Nikkei)--Japan's "East Asia Industrial Artery Initiative" should promote stronger regional bonds, said former Indian Ambassador to Japan Aftab Seth in a speech delivered at the annual Future of Asia conference here Friday.

The region has been connected with an artery of knowledge for 2,000 years, said Seth. That will be a foundation on which nations can build further cooperative relations in terms of industry, he said, citing the dissemination of knowledge throughout the region's history in such areas as medicine, mathematics and textiles through active exchanges of commerce and people.
