TOKYO (Nikkei)--Companies would benefit from having access to more transport routes, Canon Inc. (7751) Director Tetsuro Tahara said at the annual Future of Asia forum here Friday.

The company's overland shipments of goods between Guangzhou, in China, and Hanoi, in Vietnam, enabled Canon to deliver items more quickly than when using a maritime route, said Tahara, who serves as group executive of the firm's global manufacturing and logistics headquarters.

More diversified logistics options across all of Asia would better protect firms against risk and cut costs, he said.
