Solar Cells To Fill 30% Of Power Demand In 30Yrs: Gintech Energy Chief

TOKYO (Nikkei)--Solar power generation will be able to satisfy 30% of global electricity demand in 30 years, said Ellick K.J. Liao, president of Taiwan solar cell maker Gintech Energy Corp., at the annual Future of Asia conference here Thursday.

Although solar power generation fulfilled only 0.09% of global demand in 2008, he said the solar cell market will likely be worth 12.5 trillion dollars in 25 years.
